Keller Estate to Wine Enthusiasts: "Mind the Gap"
Petaluma, CA – Stopping by Sonoma Coast to taste some of California’s most elegant wines? Don’t forget to Mind the Gap -- the Petaluma, Gap, that is. Wines created from this cool region in the Sonoma Coast are complex, rich and expressive due to the unique geographical area in which the grapes are grown. Curious? Learn more about the Petaluma Gap:
What is the Petaluma Gap?
Strong gales and curling clouds of fog sweep through the opening of the hills between Tomales and Bodega Bays and blow through Petaluma, creating what is known as the “Petaluma Gap.” While the rest of Sonoma heats up, these maritime influences keep the Petaluma Gap region cool, making it ideal for growing Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Syrah and Chardonnay. The longer, cooler growing season allows the grapes to mature physiologically, creating wines with greater complexity and flavor.
