The 2018 El Coro Pinot Noir shows an array of bright hibiscus, vanilla, damp earth, and dark cherry aromas. In the mouth, layers of classic flavors like black cherry, forest floor, and pomegranate encounter exhibits of red plum and cassis. The fine tannins are rounded out with a hint of cedar and cinnamon in the finish. There is a juxtaposition of intensity and delicacy with this wine.
El Coro Vineyard sits at the property's ridge-top, the loamy soils are heavily exposed to the Petaluma Gap winds. The open exposure has a dramatic effect on the thickness of the skins and leads to intense fruit and bright acidity. We have an array of clones planted here, 828, 666, 777, Swan, and LT, which add layers of complexity to this Pinot Noir.
93 Pts, Wine Enthusiast: "Spicy cherry and black plum tones wrap around well-integrated layers of savory allspice, black tea and oak. The coolness of the appellation comes through in the lasting freshness, giving it an almost crunchy texture." 92 Pts Wine Advocate: "Medium ruby, the 2018 Pinot Noir El Coro has pretty scents of crushed blueberries, blackberries and rhubarb accented by garrigue, dried citrus and floral perfume. It's medium-bodied and silky with great concentration and freshness with a nuanced finish."
