Tasting Notes
The 2023 Keller Estate Rose has aromas of stone fruit (white peaches) and red fruit (strawberry and raspberry). In the mouth it has the Keller Estate’s signature minerality, and a broad mid-palate. There are notes of Bergamot and Buddha’s hand citrus – both known for their aromatic zest, lending this wine some complexity and balancing the fruit notes. This wine is both refreshing and supple. Ideally, it is served cold.
Winemaker Notes
The 2023 Rose was picked on the early side to preserve some of the natural acidity in the fruit. It is whole-cluster pressed in the traditional Burgundian style, which makes a terroir-driven style of minerality in the wine. Whole-cluster pressing also brings out a citrus component in the wine. We fermented the wine in a tank, and arrested fermentation after all of the residual sugar was gone and before malolactic fermentation. The malic acid from the grape gives a fresh fruit quality to the wine. It ages in tank for 6 months.
